didn’t I quit? Oh right, like an idiot I agreed to finish the month out... well, I mean when the year turns over our on the 1st our vacation renews, so if I can hold out through the new year I can collect on three weeks paid vacation in 2017... is it worth it? Today I’m not so sure... I just don’t want to screw my one coworker I actually like... (he’s also planing on quitting after the new year)... ugh.

I’m gonna try to keep it under six hours today.

Hah. I just went back for our corporate party, met some new important folks (HR, COO, CFO) and found out I have a reputation for being superman. I just do the work that gets assigned to me (which has been overwhelming lately) but didn’t realize no one else in my department is being assigned that much work. I want a social life like everyone else!

As I told one of our prospective hires “be careful here, there is a real opportunity to be assigned every job you are good at.”

I mean, why would you hire other workers when this one just keeps somehow managing to do everything you assign them? Thats just smart business!

Yeah, I did have a nice conversation with HR about the logic of getting an intern so they aren’t wasting money when I have to do menial tasks. You don’t need me to be printing and mailing correspondence at my current pay rate when a trained monkey could do it for $9/hr. We have a lot to learn about efficiency.

I’ve been trying to make that same argument to my supperiors for two years, it hasn’t worked yet, thus the quitting.

If there is one thing 2016 taught me, it’s this: It’s nice to be good at things, it’s better to be paid for things.

I’m probably the only person in the universe who has gotten a $25k/yr raise and felt jilted. The second highest person in our organization (the person who runs our entire sales and marketing effort) came up to me the other day and asked if I could put together our marketing plan “because she didn’t really know anything about marketing”. Mind you, everyone at the company’s job hangs on this is the person’s ability to sell. That same week I sat down with our CEO so he could explain why I’m not going to be paid even close to an industry normal. It boiled down to “your not leadery enough”.

Moral of the story? You’re halfway there. Time to close!
